Wonder no more: the unbelievably huge sound of The 88E is now playable at any pitch with this free virtual instrument loaded with sound design options, and created in partnership with YouTuber and mad scientist engineer Mattias Krantz (like the rest of our Engineer Series).

Welcome to The 88E, a free — yet surprisingly inspiring — virtual piano. Mattias has sampled this majestic instrument with 30 dynamic layers, providing a wide spectrum of tonal fullness. Naturally, the samples are also re-pitched in our Kontakt UI, allowing you to play whatever pitch you’d like.
To inspire your epic, cinematic, and soundtrack work, we’ve created several dozen snapshots that morph the core sound into everything from drippy plucks and resonances to dramatic, cosmic-level soundscapes. Besides these snapshots, you can adjust the instrument’s touch and feel to your personal preference with easy controls for tone, velocity response, filtering, and more.
Mattias Krantz is a guitarist and YouTuber known for his wild, imaginative experiments with pianos and guitars. Console is a fully-featured mixer, modular effects rack, and pedal board, designed to give you full control over your mix. Effects include multiple EQs (digital and analog-style), compressors, spatial FX, modulation FX, amps, distortion pedals, reverbs, and more.
Each mic channel can be loaded with up to 8 FX in any order, plus another 8 slots on the master channel, with support for send routing as well. The “Galois Reverb” included in Kontakt Player sounds fantastic as an alternative to our included custom IRs.
