"ISW creates some of the most inspiring & realistic guitar sample libraries. I had to write a bunch of really gritty, angry heavy metal & sports action rock cues. I used Shreddage 3 Serpent for leads and was blown away by its onboard processing, programming, and amazing live-sounding leads. I also created a signature sound based on the lead guitar in David Lynch's Twin Peaks series, originally played on baritone guitar. [Serpent] built a convincing replica of that sound just using on-board FX. It was so fun and easy to do!"

Instruments from ISW are a staple of my soundtrack work for games. Vocalisa has been a mainstay vocal aesthetic of nearly every game I've worked on including Celeste & Chicory: A Colorful Tale. Shreddage 3 has also given me the confidence to write some really fun guitar riffs & solos despite not being able to play a real one. I've started incorporating Tokyo Scoring Strings into the acoustic side of my scoring work, and can't wait to try out more from ISW in the future!

"A big thanks to the team at Impact Soundworks for putting inspiration at my fingertips! Your sample libraries are in heavy use in my Orchestral, Rock and Pop templates, and always visible in my top-tier Cue-specific Kontakt. Layering your Shreddage libraries on top of my live guitar tracks creates so much depth, and I get so much out of so many of your other libraries - too many to name. A+ programming and sonic goodness gang!"
We’re bringing the art of cool to our renowned Shreddage line with a sleek electric upright bass featuring a beautifully diverse and expressive tone, captured in meticulous detail. Whether you’re dialing in bite and growl for a stand-out bass solo, or a warm round tone that sits in the pocket, Shreddage 3 E-Upright is the bass you’ve been looking for.
The electric upright is a unique bass choice (we think it might be the first-ever virtual electric upright!) and sets itself apart from the crowd by having the heart and soul of an upright acoustic bass, with all the detail and precision of modern electronics. This unique symmetry allows the instrument to reproduce every nuance of your performance with the detail of a session player, without sacrificing the smooth feel and emotive style of a seasoned live performer.
For this distinctive instrument, we turned to the Soulful Traveling Spaceman Bassman, Carter Fox, and his Kydd Upright 34” 5-string bass. We couldn’t imagine a better artist to bring out the best from such a unique instrument, noteworthy for its sensitivity in harmonics and dynamic range. We recorded it through an amp with Carter’s preferred specs, alongside the DI (Direct Input) signal so you get access to Carter’s signature sound as well as complete control of tone customization.
We knew that Carter would capture some magic with this instrument, but we weren’t prepared for just how diverse and flexible the final result would be. The tone speaks for itself in genres ranging from modern funk pop to country and everything in between. Shreddage 3 E-Upright boasts a ‘sweet spot’ bass tone smooth enough to sit in a mix and punchy enough to make a statement in any genre.
Why an electric upright bass? This remarkable instrument shares much of the same warm round tone and nuance of an acoustic upright bass, with several notable advantages. First, it works much better for sampling due to the consistency of its DI sound, unlike an acoustic upright, which can have a wild frequency range and must contend with room reflection. And because it’s an amplified instrument, the signal can be taken in infinitely inspiring directions, without losing any expressiveness or sacrificing the richness of its natural harmonics.
In short, an electric upright has a similar character to an acoustic upright, but it’s more usable, easier to fit in your mix, and far more flexible tone-wise. We hope it will open up all-new avenues for creative inspiration, whether you’re writing a virtuosic bass solo in a jazz ensemble or holding down traditional basslines with a different sound.
No need to tediously edit your performance or dive into complicated controls: Shreddage 3 E-Upright will perform realistically right out of the box, automatically moving around the fingerboard naturally the way a live player would. However, if you’d like to dig in deeper, Shreddage 3 E-Upright comes with an abundance of powerful editing features and controls that make up the Shreddage 3.5 engine.
On the main page, the Performance Style and the Fretting and Picking modes let you dial in just the right playing style. Likewise, the Force String and Hand Position parameters give you even deeper control of tone and variation. Use the signal control to choose the DI or amp signal, the tone knob to increase or decrease presence, and the bite dial to introduce some aggression into the performance.
Create your own unique sound from scratch by heading over to the Console page. Build up your own signal chain for the DI, amp, and master channels with 30 effects, including cabinets, amps, dynamics, EQs, pedals, reverbs, phasing effects, and others.
Looking to see what other colors Shreddage 3 E-Upright is capable of? Our 36 snapshots get you there fast, putting a remarkably various collection of tones at your fingertips. You’ll find everything from clean variations to ethereal and ambient to high-passed retro sounds for the funkiest funk to dirty, overdriven sounds for metal, rock, and punk.
Unlike a standard bass guitar’s picked articulations, the electric upright has a plucked articulation that is familiar enough to suit many styles of music but distinctive enough to give your tracks a new twist — with a full range of articulations and versatile playability that maps directly to the Shreddage 3 engine. If you know how to write for bass guitar, you’ll find Shreddage 3 E-Upright very similar in function to what you’re used to.
Our articulation set gives you just what you need to lay down solid bass grooves as well as create realistic solos: sustains, short and long staccatos, tapping, harmonics, a generous set of up and down slides, pitched and unpitched releases, and legatos which are automatically implemented. We’ve also included finger and fret noises that will give your performance true realism. All articulations are controlled through editable key switches.
Console is our mixer, modular effects rack, and pedal board, designed to give you full control over your virtual guitar tone. Unlike our previous FX racks, which were limited to a small amount of preset modules, Console gives you 30 effects modules to choose from!
These include multiple EQs (digital and analog-style), compressors, spatial FX, modulation FX, amps, distortion pedals, reverbs, and a selection of over 30 custom cabinet IRs recorded just for Shreddage 3! These cabs cover all the most important sounds you would want, with both dynamic & condenser mics in multiple positions plus a ribbon mic for certain models.
Using Console, you can easily save and load FX chains or presets between projects or even different Shreddage 3 products. It also allows you to mix and blend between signals, with custom inserts on each if you’d like.

Shreddage 3 Series – Sample Library Review
“Impact Soundworks have blown the lid off my DAW with Shreddage 3. This is the electric guitar library I have long been looking for. Whether you want a rocking rhythm guitarist, a wailing, screaming guitar soloist, or simply a tool for writing your own rhythm and solo guitar parts, Shreddage 3 fits the bill. You can easily write a full rock track with Shreddage 3 that sounds authentic and believable. It’s hard to ask for much more than that.”
