Overview

One of the most iconic guitars in all of modern music, with an unmistakable chorus tone that shimmers out with every note. The lush, bright sound is brought out even further by its natural acoustic ‘compression’ which helps it feel even tighter in a mix. There’s a reason why the acoustic 12-string has defined the intros, hooks, and signature riffs of hundreds of classic songs from Bob Dylan and Pink Floyd to Led Zeppelin and the Eagles. Use it as a solo lead or to enrich a rhythm track. Reach for Rosette Club 12 String whenever you’re writing rock, pop, country, folk, or anything that needs a truly great guitar.

Instruments from ISW are a staple of my soundtrack work for games. Vocalisa has been a mainstay vocal aesthetic of nearly every game I’ve worked on including Celeste & Chicory: A Colorful Tale. Shreddage 3 has also given me the confidence to write some really fun guitar riffs & solos despite not being able to play a real one. I’ve started incorporating Tokyo Scoring Strings into the acoustic side of my scoring work, and can’t wait to try out more from ISW in the future!

“Between Shreddage, Super Audio Cart, Juggernaut, and Mega Brass I don’t remember the last time I haven’t used an Impact Soundworks instrument in a track. The attention to detail is astonishing and it’s all so easy to use out of the box, which is a big deal.”

About the Library

For decades, the acoustic 12-string has been the secret sauce holding some of your favorite songs together. Ever since George Harrison used it to open “A Hard Day’s Night” for The Beatles, it’s been inescapable.

You’ve heard it in the legendary intro to “Hotel California.” It takes center stage in “Free Falling,” “More Than a Feeling,” and “Stairway to Heaven.” It strums and shimmers throughout Woodstock psychedelia, harder classic rock, and pop songs alike, classic metal tracks from Led Zeppelin to Mastodon to Metallica, and modern hits by Lorde, Phoebe Bridgers, and Sabrina Carpenter. It’s also a staple of Americana and country music, where it’s used to add shimmer and body. For celtic and folk music, it’s a natural fit anywhere you’d use a mandolin, especially a deeper bass/baritone mandolin.

When we say this guitar is versatile, we mean it. With such a strong and varied pedigree, Rosette Club 12 String was the obvious choice to round out our Rosette series.

A Classic Guitar, Recorded with Obsessive Consistency

The acoustic 12-string is a unique guitar where each primary string is paired with a second string that’s tuned to the same note but a higher pitch. This results in a bright, wide, strikingly powerful sound that functions like a natural chorus effect, rich with harmonics in a way that no amount of studio doubling with a six-string could match. It has a particularly powerful attack, especially in heavy play that takes full advantage of the body’s resonance.

For Rosette Club 12 String, we sampled a Guild F212 guitar built in 1973. It’s a gorgeous vintage instrument in excellent condition with a blocky, resonant body.

We called on a working professional who we knew would have the attention to detail that such an essential instrument would require. He rigged a contraption in his LA studio to ensure consistent sound on every note across nearly 100 hours of recording. With his microphone stands bolted into position and a special cutout to make sure he sat in the exact same spot every time, he attained a seemingly-impossible level of recording consistency. His guitar is an LA legend that has seen a lot of session work, and now Rosette Club 12 String is part of its legacy.

The Powerful Rosette Engine, Better than Ever

The Rosette line is built on the Shreddage 3.5 engine, expanded for the needs of an acoustic guitar to emulate the way experienced guitarists adjust their performance to hone in on a particular sound, choosing certain fret positions or strings to bring out specific colors or timbres. If you’re already familiar with the Shreddage series, you can dive right into Rosette.

We put extra care into making Rosette Club 12 String feel naturally expressive. In addition to mutes, hammer-ons, pull-offs, noises, and harmonics, it also includes the slide-up and slide-down articulations that are necessary for authentic 12-string performance. A generous number of round robins and articulations give you a deeply-sampled, beautifully fine-tuneable guitar.

Rosette Club 12 String is also the first library to include a new feature called Workstation Fun. Built by a keyboardist for keyboardists, it’s designed for you to play with natural keyboard expressiveness, which the engine then translates automatically into a more expressive guitar performance. Play as many notes as you’d like, regardless of realism; it will still sound natural and lifelike, picking the right articulations based on the velocity of your performance.

Console Modular FX Rack & Mixer

Console is our mixer, modular effects rack, and pedal board, designed to give you full control over your virtual guitar tone. Unlike our previous FX racks, which were limited to a small amount of preset modules, Console gives you 30 effects modules to choose from!

These include multiple EQs (digital and analog-style), compressors, spatial FX, modulation FX, amps, distortion pedals, reverbs, and a selection of over 30 custom cabinet IRs! These cabs cover all the most important sounds you would want, with both dynamic & condenser mics in multiple positions plus a ribbon mic for certain models.

Using Console, you can easily save and load FX chains or presets between projects or even different Console-enabled products. It also allows you to mix and blend between mic signals, with custom inserts on each if you’d like.

Rosette Fingerstyle – Future Music

“…the key to getting a realistic performance with Rosette is understanding the interface and making use of the many features available…Certainly, Rosette Fingerstyle is more than capable of excellent results – and the Taylor has been nicely captured – but to make the most of this instrument a little more work is required by the user.” (7.8/10)
