Instruments from ISW are a staple of my soundtrack work for games. Vocalisa has been a mainstay vocal aesthetic of nearly every game I’ve worked on including Celeste & Chicory: A Colorful Tale. Shreddage 3 has also given me the confidence to write some really fun guitar riffs & solos despite not being able to play a real one. I’ve started incorporating Tokyo Scoring Strings into the acoustic side of my scoring work, and can’t wait to try out more from ISW in the future!

About the Library

Riffage: Classic Rock is a loving tribute to the days of the British Invasion (artists like the Stones, the Who, the Beatles, and Cream) as well as the edgier sound that followed in the next decade: arena-filling giants like Queen, AC/DC, Aerosmith, and Led Zeppelin. These eras were the birthplaces of many legendary electric guitar tones and performance styles, which is exactly what we set out to capture with this library.

From the choices of guitars to the six included amp tones to the writing of the riffs and licks themselves, each of the 300 looped phrases in the library pays homage to 1960 and 1970s rock and roll. There are 100 phrases each at 80 bpm, 120 bpm, and 160 bpm, so you can choose anything from laid-back, bluesy vibes to high-speed, high-voltage shredding.

Just like other libraries in the Riffage series, Classic Rock is designed to deliver the most authentic, realistic sound as quickly and easily as possible. You can use it to inspire a brand new song, add a dash of era-appropriate flavor, or lay down complete backing tracks. Of course you don’t have to be working on a rock single; Riffage: Classic Rock works just as well for TV and video game scores that need to capture that sound. Lay down the groove as a starting point and write anything you can imagine over the top.

From riffs and licks in every key to straightforward rhythm guitar parts, there’s enough room to build out a song in any key and virtually any tempo you want. A variety of phrase endings help you stick the landing and give you even more combinations you can use to build out a sound that’s uniquely yours.

It also plays well with our existing Riffage: Hard Rock, which includes some overlapping inspiration. The sound for Classic Rock is a little lighter, while Hard Rock has more of an edge. But if you want a huge collection of classic sounds with even more variety, the two collections have enough crossover to work well together.

Convenient Tags to Get What You Need

The Phrase Browser lets you find what you need fast. Quickly narrow down your choices with filters based on articulation, riff/lick category, style, and tempo. Audition loops right in the browser with a simple mouse click. Use the waveform display in the GUI to quickly identify loops. We’ve also included all loops, both DI and amped, as separate WAV files that you can easily drag and drop into your DAW for total control over the source performances.

A Tone That's Ready to Rock

Riffage: Classic Rock gets you locked into a tight groove fast, with rhythm guitar licks and riffs looped to perfection, recorded on era-perfect Les Paul and SG-style guitars with humbucker pickups.

Get a super-wide sound out of the box, since every single riff was recorded twice (double tracking) through a clean direct-in (DI). Then we re-amped those performances through 6 classic amps from iconic heavy hitters like Fender, Marshall, HiWatt, and Vox. It’s the garage rock jam of your dreams, and you can take it anywhere you want.

About the Performer

Patrick Windsor is a multi-instrumentalist who has performed, written, and recorded music in multiple genres for more than two decades. He has performed in the rock groups 48sin and Egostatic and the experimental rock band Tub Ring, performing around the Chicago area and finding track placement in TV shows such as Californication. He created the metal band Internal Empires, which played regionally in the Chicago area and shared the stage with such metal bands as Every Time I Die, Norma Jean, The Bled, and more. After moving to Los Angeles, Patrick began writing and recording with a range of artists. He has worked on music featured on Showtime, Starz, Shudder, and performed on NBC’s The Kelly Clarkson Show with The Boulet Brothers.
