The Roland JP-8080 revolutionized digital music when it was released in the 1990s. It’s most known for introducing the massive supersaw oscillator, which shaped the sound of 90s dance music (and gave us Darude’s infamous “Sandstorm”).
Over 25 years later, it’s now an expensive, hard-to-find classic.

Taking inspiration from synths like the Access Virus, Juno-106, and Alpha Juno, among others, this single piece of software gives you a veritable wall of classic synth oscillators.
Go from delicate to untamed with FM-powered modes like 2-Op and Raw. Create massive chords with a single voice using Chord and Hellchoir modes. Transform Chro-Nyx into vintage hardware with the J106, Alpha, and Hoover.
Thicken any sound with the Sub Oscillator, Jupiter-8 style Cross Modulation, and up to 10-voice unison with adjustable tune and spread.
Filters from Warm to Extreme
Chro-Nyx starts with the 8080’s signature filter design, slopes, and types (LPF, BPF, HPF), then adds a whole new world on top of that. It’s armed with dual filters (and a third post-FX filter) that can be run split, in series, or parallel. Plus, each has Virus-style Filter FM, as well as five filter types like “Classic”, “Lush”, and “Acid”, each with their own distinct character and response.
Enter distortion heaven with not just one, but 18 (!) filter drive types from waveshapers to frequency modulators to all types of overdrive, distortion, fuzz, and crushing effects. Then send the gain into guitar amp territory with the BOOST button.
Chart-topping FX
Add crisp highs, deep lows, spacey chorus, and delay with spot-on recreations of the 8080’s Tone Control, Delay, and Chorus, as well as its original Vocoder. Or go way beyond with 28 other effects modules ranging from shimmer reverbs to waveshapers to multiband compression, phasers, flangers, and much more.
Sculpt and polish your patches even further with two analog-modeled shelving and peak EQs (both pre- and post-FX), then enrich your vocals with an expanded vocoder that includes more shaping and spacing controls and even a modular-inspired 12 band filterbank.

Say goodbye to static, dull, and lifeless patches; Chro-Nyx makes it easy to add rhythm and changes over time to your sounds. Its dual LFO can go from incredibly time-stretched lengths (64/1 bars) to hyper-fast, audio-rate modulation. Click a single button to enable sequences, arpeggios, or trance gate from the SEQ tab.
And for the mad scientists, the Mod Matrix is a dream come true. 16 independent slots let you connect synth parameters in any way you can imagine. Chro-Nyx even includes Eurorack-style math operators in the matrix so you can create breathtaking, intricate sounds without any external automation.

Netherlands-based Jasper Broeks (Chrono) has been performing as a DJ and hardcore artist since 2004. Over the years, he has worked with numerous well-known artists and performed at many festivals around the world such as Harmony of Hardcord, Ground Zero, Decibel Outdoor, Defqon, and more. He creates his own synths under the Pulsecraft name.
Jasper’s unique blend of skillsets as a talented programmer and sound designer, mixed with his experience and expertise writing and performing live music in the Trance and Hardcore scene, lend Chro-Nyx a rare blend of usability and practicality. This is a synth fine-tuned for the live programmer and EDM producer alike, by one of the very best in the business.
