bravura – noun / brə – vyoor – ə:
1. a musical passage requiring exceptional agility and technical skill in execution
2. a florid, brilliant style
3. a show of daring

When we ran across this rarely-used (and somewhat difficult to pronounce!) term we knew immediately it was the ideal title for our bold, new orchestral brass library. We started by taking a good look at other brass libraries and asked ourselves “what’s missing and how can we take this to a new level?” With great care we set out to record gorgeous, “human” performances and to craft instantly gratifying yet deeply customizable instruments.

Not only is Bravura both agile and meticulously sampled, it also includes an extensive number of articulations and a versatile, scoring STUDIO sound. Bravura therefore provides the modern media/classical composer a complete suite of scoring brass instruments that can easily blend with other orchestral sample libraries.

After almost a year in production on two continents, we humbly and proudly present Bravura Scoring Brass!

Chords & FX Info

Bravura Scoring Brass Chords & FX is a version of the full instrument featuring a selection of “instant gratification” patches from Bravura Scoring Brass Complete. It is NOT the full version of Bravura Scoring Brass, but it does contain some of the most useful patches for composers!

  • Ensemble and Solo “Chord Maker” patches. Play single notes to create fully-voiced chords, with control over chord voicing, type and instrument spread
  • Ensemble and Solo “Orchestrator” patches. As you play or sequence chords, these patches will intelligently assign each note to a different instrument, creating realistic voicings!
  • Articulations: Sustain, staccato, tenuto, marcato
  • All aleatoric FX patches: short figures, phrases, motifs, swells, and hits that are particularly ideal for scoring purposes.

Bravura Scoring Brass – Blogcritics Magazine

“I really liked working with Bravura. You have a lot of flexibility over what you are creating… Even better are the sounds that you are able to create. By being able to control so many variables, you can tweak the sounds in just about any way possible. Also, the crispness of the sound is superb… The Chordmaker and Orchestrator also make this package very unique and give it even more flexibility.

“[…] I have worked with a number of other brass packages and Bravura really scores high on my list of favorites. For that reason I highly recommend it.”

T. Michael Testi (Blogcritics Magazine)

Bravura Scoring Brass – Original Sound Version

“After spending a good deal of time with all of the various instruments and features on Bravura Scoring Brass, I have to say I’m impressed. There are loads of options for customizing the sound of the ensembles or solo instruments, it’s simple to adjust parameters to create realistic performances, and the samples themselves are of top notch quality and are extremely versatile.” (Original Sound Version)

Bravura Scoring Brass – Robert Gregory Browne

“Overall, I think this is a really terrific library, especially for those of you who don’t want to break the bank buying brass. The sounds are solid, round, brassy when they need to be, and the multitude of features makes it a must-have in my estimation. You don’t always need the newest kid on the block; sometimes the old stand-bys work just great. Kudos to Impact Soundworks for their fine work on this.”

Robert Gregory Browne (02/2020)

Bravura Scoring Brass – Sound On Sound

“Boasting a highly effective true legato mode for all instruments, the library is technically excellent, with deep programming facilities lurking beneath the bonnet. The instruments (which play a decent range of common articulations and aleatoric effects) sound very nice indeed: ‘opulent’ is the word that springs to mind.” (Sound On Sound)

Bravura Scoring Brass – The Audio Spotlight

“Not many brass sample libraries have a piccolo trumpet, but this instrument is extremely useful. Just look at any John Williams score and you will surely find a piccolo trumpet in there somewhere. [Bravura’s] piccolo trumpet has a nice round tone in the lower registers and in the lower dynamic range. Also, not many sample libraries offer a Flugelhorn and the [Bravura] one has a very nice tone to it…All instruments in the [Bravura] trumpet family have an inspiring legato and are able to produce very realistic melodic lines. The [Bravura] trumpet family will for this reason alone stay in my orchestral template.”

Bravura: Scoring Brass – Sample Library Review

“Now I spent about ten years playing low brass….the thing that got me excited about Bravura is the sounds.”
